Third grade is an exciting year in art class. We will continue to focus on the National Core Art Standards: Creating, Presenting, Responding, and Connecting. Also we will learn more about the Elements of Art through the works of famous artists. Since the beginning of the school year, the students in the third grade have been learning about various artists and creating beautiful art pieces in their style. Joan Miro was the artist in focus for one of our art lessons. Joan Miro was a Spanish painter, sculptor and ceramist born in Barcelona. During class the students learned about his life and most famous art pieces. This helped inspire them to create pieces in the surrealism style combined with the playfulness and whimsical nature of a child.
