C.R.E.S.T.

Our third grade CREST students have succeeded in making big impacts this year. Their February talent show raised  $1,065 for the Confetti Foundation. Chosen by the students, the Confetti Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supplies birthday parties to hospitalized children. Our donation will supply Children's Hospital Los Angeles with a two-month supply of birthday parties for their pediatric oncology department. With the help of Ms. Lee in making the talent video, the students were able to weave all of their talents together for over an hour of entertainment for our Crestview community.

Since the completion of this project, CREST has switched gears to learning about climate change and ways to combat it. One of our favorite ways is planting trees! Through a curriculum provided by One Tree Planted, we have been learning about how planting trees benefit our water, air, biodiversity, social impact, health, and climate regulation. Each week we dive into a section, examine the science and discuss how we can make a difference. Some of these conversations include ways we can change our own behaviors and practices like trying to be aware of waste when we see it. These conversations made it easy to decide to solely benefit One Tree Planted with our annual 3rd Grade Market. This year the market will be held online! Opening on May 1 at 9:00 a.m., the CREST students will be selling hundreds of used books and handmade items.  Just go to https://3rd-grade-market.company.site/ to shop from May 1 - May 4.  For every dollar CREST raises, One Tree Planted will plant one tree in a location of our choice. This year, the children have a goal of 300 trees! They will host a drive-by pick-up of purchase on May 8 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Please help CREST plant some trees while you pick up a good book.
