Mindfulness class is off to a great start this year! Even with an atypical year last year, the children remembered many of the mindfulness tools and concepts. With our youngest students, we begin with what a mindful body looks and feels like. From there, we do experiments with mindful listening. Many are quick to share, “I can hear better when my body is calm!” This mind/body connection remains the thread throughout the entire program. With older students, we practice the same tools but bring in topics in the form of council. Council is the practice of gathering in a circle and sharing our thoughts and feelings in a safe space. This week, we reviewed the three levels of respect and the importance of holding positive self-respect. As the year progresses, we hope to share the practice of Council with parents. Stay tuned!
