Second Grade

Second grade math has been all about place value! Students have spent the last month learning about the value of digits in a number based its location. Our young mathematicians have worked with three digit numbers all the way up to one thousand. Math centers have provided an opportunity for students to practice and apply skills taught within the classroom, this week centers included a Place Value Scavenger Hunt. For this movement activity, numbers up to one thousand were written and placed around campus. Students dashed out the door to explore and find numbers of which they had clues. Other centers focused on building numbers up to one thousand with math manipulative blocks as well as a game rotation of Place Value Kaboom. Fun and learning together make a great combo for success!
