In social studies, third grade has been learning about the different regions in California and the natural landforms that make our state so special. Our students had the opportunity to learn in what regions of California we can find landforms such as mountains, the coast, valleys and deserts by making a 3-dimensional map. We made salt dough in class and the students used this to shape mountains and to form the California coast. Lastly, our students allowed their creativity to shine through when they painted their maps and added features from the five regions to complete the map of the Golden State.
