Clay projects can definitely be a labor of love, but seeing students excited about what they will create is truly amazing. Students learned the elements of art ceramics and 3D sculpting.
Kindergarten through sixth grade students learned various skills, such as; slab working, kneading, pinching and rolling with their hands. Little details make a big difference and can also improve their fine motor skills. Pottery classes are great for sensory development and allows students to absorb information at their own pace. Working with clay and its unique properties helps reduce stress and integrates mental, emotional and kinaesthetic brain functions. Once the projects get fired, the students will be applying a few coats of glaze to give their clay piece a final touch.
