Triceratops, stegosaurus, and tyrannosaurus rex… oh my! Our Kindergarten students have traveled back in time to the Mesozoic Era to learn all about dinosaurs. We have been studying these magnificent and fascinating creatures through captivating stories and interactive activities like puzzles and crafts. We brainstormed writing ideas about having a pet dinosaur or what it would be like if dinosaurs were still alive today! Our students channeled their inner paleontologists by getting down and dirty to excavate some fossils that we found in our sandbox. We learned how important paleontologists' jobs are and how studying where the fossil was discovered and what kind of rock layer it was from helps to identify significant things about the creature. The highlight of our week was taking a field trip to the Natural History Museum where we got to further expand our knowledge of dinosaurs! We are looking forward to next week where we will use our knowledge to compare and contrast whether we like a T. rex or a triceratops better than the other.
