This month, our second graders embarked on an exciting journey through the world of art history! Each student chose a famous artist to study, learning about their life, style, and most famous works. From Vincent van Gogh to Yayoi Kusama to Frida Kahlo, our young art enthusiasts delved into the lives and masterpieces of renowned creators. In conjunction with their studies of famous artists, our students engaged in book reports to deepen their understanding of their chosen artist's life and work. They read biographies and explored art books to help guide their studies. Inspired by the techniques and styles of their chosen artists, our second graders unleashed their creativity by crafting their own original art pieces. From impressionistic landscapes to surreal self-portraits, each student infused their work with the spirit and vision of their selected artist. To celebrate the culmination of their artistic explorations, our second graders participated in a special presentation! Decked out in costumes inspired by their chosen artists, students shared their knowledge and artistic creations with our Crestview community.
