During recent creative writing sessions, our fifth graders practiced their storytelling skills while penning original children’s books for their second grade buddies. Students went through the phases of the writing process and used skills taught in previous units to bring their stories to life. To create pictures for their books, fifth graders chose from using apps such as Canva, or drawing illustrations by hand. Their creativity and effort in crafting engaging, kid-friendly storylines with lessons for their young readers was truly remarkable. These books were created with their second-grade buddies in mind, and our fifth graders are super excited to share their books with their buddies and other classmates later this month.
