Art

Third grade is having an exciting year in art class. We continue to focus on the National Core Art Standards, which include creating, presenting, responding, and connecting. One of the ways we accomplish this is by studying the elements of art found in the works of famous artists. Keith Haring, an American artist known for his vibrant, dynamic artwork, was the focus of a recent lesson. Students learned about his iconic style, which features bold lines and figures, and discussed how it made a lasting impact on the art world. Third graders enjoyed creating their own mixed media art pieces in Haring’s style while also applying the elements of art and principles of design.
