In fourth grade, our students have been hard at work in writing class! We recently wrapped up our “Best Part of Me” assignment, where students paired their heartfelt writing with black-and-white photos to highlight what makes them special. Now, we’ve jumped into small-moment narrative writing. Students are focusing on moments in their lives that spark joy, make them giggle, remind them of loved ones, or stand out in their memories. They are learning to zoom in on these moments, using an author’s creative and intricate lens. From stories about enjoying ice cream, and long car rides, to seeing a capybara for the first time, their stories come alive on the page. Our fourth graders are magicians just in time for Halloween, weaving words into writing magic. Their imaginations and storytelling skills are truly shining! We can't wait to see what they come up with next!
