On Friday, February 7th, 2025, Crestview Preparatory School joined schools worldwide in celebrating Global School Play Day (GSPD), a movement that began in 2015 to promote unstructured play in schools. The day was a resounding success at Crestview, as students immersed themselves in free play without the use of screens or adult direction. Instead, they had the opportunity to use their imaginations, engage in creative problem-solving, and develop important social skills through cooperative play.

We are excited to share the heartwarming success of the second-grade community service project: making toys for cats at the Pasadena Humane Society!

During the week of January 27th, Crestview celebrated its third year participating in The Great Kindness Challenge. This week-long program, designed by the non-profit Kids for Peace, began as a small local movement involving 3 schools and a few hundred children 14 years ago. It has since grown to include 20 million children across 41,000 schools worldwide.

Working with clay is one of the most exciting experiences of the year in art class!

Gingerbread baking isn’t just about the yummy cookies. It’s about moments shared, memories created, and love infused into every baking step.

This past weekend our Crestview debate team competed in its first tournament of the year at the Wise School. The tournament featured 9 schools and over 120 argumentative debaters!

This month, our 5th graders embarked on an inspiring journey into the world of poetry, using Sharon Creech's novel Love That Dog as their guide. Love That Dog serves as the perfect launching point for our poetry study. This unit blends literary appreciation with creative expression, allowing students to explore poetry as both readers and writers.

While some have had the pleasure of getting to know Crestview's new Head Sports Coach, JuLian Blake, during this fall's remarkable flag football season, we wanted to introduce Coach JuLian to our entire community.

It can be scary to be a turkey this time of year, given that these amazing birds are quite recognizable and the main dish at many Thanksgiving dinners. But there is hope for our feathered friends thanks to our Crestview Design Thinkers! Over the past couple of weeks, Crestview students and teachers have been busy designing disguises for our turkeys.

Every Monday after school there is a raucous group of fifth and sixth graders on campus that simply won’t stop arguing! This of course is our competitive debate team, which has grown over the past several years to become a stalwart of the Goldenwest Debate League (GWDL).
